ST. LUCIA DESTINATION WEDDINGS

Where Romance Meets the Extraordinary.

St. Lucia doesn't look or feel like just another Caribbean island.

Here, dramatic mountains rise from the sea, rainforest surrounds secluded resorts, and intimate beaches and bays create wedding settings that feel almost designed for romance.

From the iconic Pitons and lush landscapes of Soufrière to the energy of Rodney Bay and tranquility of Marigot Bay, St. Lucia allows couples to create a destination wedding that feels deeply connected to the island itself.

Behind The Scenes helps you find the setting and resort that work for your wedding, your guests and the experience you want to create.

MAIN GATEWAY

Hewanorra International Airport (UVF)

Saint Lucia has two airports, but Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) in Vieux Fort is the international gateway we should emphasize for U.S. destination wedding groups. George F. L. Charles Airport near Castries primarily serves inter-island traffic.

BTS PLANNING NOTE

In St. Lucia, location matters. A resort's position on the island can affect everything from airport transfer time and guest activities to the scenery surrounding your wedding.

WHY COUPLES LOVE ST. LUCIA

This Isn't Just a Beach Destination.

St. Lucia gives couples something different from the classic Caribbean resort experience.

Yes, there are beautiful beaches. But there are also volcanic peaks, rainforest, waterfalls, secluded bays, and extraordinary views that make the island itself part of the wedding design.

The iconic Gros Piton and Petit Piton rise dramatically beside the Caribbean near Soufrière, while destinations such as Sugar Beach and Anse Chastanet combine water, rainforest and mountain scenery in one experience.

And there's plenty for guests to experience beyond the wedding—from snorkeling and sailing to waterfalls, Sulphur Springs, hiking, and exploring the island's coastline.

Come for the wedding.

Remember where it happened.

WHERE IN ST. LUCIA?

One Island. Four Different Ways to Experience It.

St. Lucia may be smaller than some of the other destinations we plan, but choosing where to stay still matters.

The north offers a livelier, more accessible resort experience, while the west and southwest bring you closer to some of the island's most dramatic scenery.

The question isn't simply:

“Which St. Lucia resort is prettiest?”

It's:

“Which part of St. Lucia works for our wedding and our guests?”

SOUFRIÈRE

Dramatic • Romantic • Iconic

For couples dreaming of the St. Lucia they've seen in photographs, Soufrière delivers.

Home to the Pitons, rainforest, Sulphur Springs, waterfalls and some of the island's most recognizable coastal scenery, this region creates an extraordinary setting for a destination wedding.

BEST FOR:
Romance • Piton views • Luxury • Intimate weddings • Nature

MARIGOT BAY

Intimate • Scenic • Tranquil

Marigot Bay offers couples a protected, picturesque setting with a noticeably quieter atmosphere.

It's a strong option for couples drawn to beautiful scenery and a slower pace rather than a large, activity-heavy resort corridor. The tourism authority specifically highlights Marigot Bay for its peaceful setting and protected waters.

BEST FOR:
Intimacy • Relaxation • Scenic celebrations • Smaller groups

RODNEY BAY + GROS ISLET

Lively • Convenient • Social

The north offers a more energetic St. Lucia experience, with resorts, restaurants, nightlife, beaches and the marina all within reach.

Reduit Beach in Rodney Bay is known for its long shoreline, calm water, water sports and nearby dining, while the broader northern region contains many of the island's resorts.

BEST FOR:
Groups • Activities • Dining • Nightlife • Guests wanting more to do nearby

NORTHWEST COAST

Resort-Focused • Romantic • Balanced

The northwest coast can provide a useful middle ground for couples who want the romance of St. Lucia while remaining closer to the restaurants, activities and resort infrastructure of the north.

BEST FOR:
Resort weddings • Couples • Groups wanting romance + activities • Guest convenience

VERONICA'S TAKE

In St. Lucia, I wouldn't choose a resort based on the wedding venue alone. The location of the property affects how your guests arrive, what they can experience, and how easily everyone can explore the island. Here, geography is part of the wedding plan.

BEEN THERE. EXPERIENCED ST. LUCIA FIRSTHAND.

A Beautiful View Is Only the Beginning.

St. Lucia has resorts with views that can stop you in your tracks.

But a destination wedding requires us to look beyond the photograph.

We consider how the resort works in real life—for the wedding, the couple, and the guests traveling with them.

Wedding Venues

We're trying to find the right one.

WHAT KIND OF RESORT FITS YOUR WEDDING?

Adults-Only or Family-Friendly?

ADULTS-ONLY

Ideal for couples envisioning a romantic atmosphere centered around adult guests.

May work particularly well for:

Couples-only celebrations
Smaller adult groups
Romantic wedding weekends
Guests prioritizing dining, relaxation, and nightlife

BUT CONSIDER: Children attending the wedding, younger family members, and guest-list restrictions.

FAMILY-FRIENDLY

Ideal when your wedding includes children, extended family, or guests across multiple generations.

May work particularly well for:

Large family groups
Guests traveling with children
Multigenerational weddings
Groups needing broader activity options

BUT CONSIDER: Resort size, room locations, and how wedding spaces interact with the rest of the property.

Neither is automatically better.

The right answer depends on who's coming with you.

GETTING TO ST. LUCIA

Landing Is Only Part of the Journey.

Most international destination wedding guests will arrive at Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) in the south of St. Lucia. The island's second airport, George F. L. Charles Airport, primarily serves regional Caribbean flights.

But unlike a destination where most resorts cluster around the airport, your journey may continue across St. Lucia after you land.

The island's mountainous terrain and winding roads mean transfer time can be substantial depending on where your resort is located. Saint Lucia's tourism authority estimates travel between the north and Soufrière at roughly 1.5–2 hours, illustrating why location matters when planning a wedding group.

That's why Behind The Scenes considers air access, resort location, and transportation together.

Don't let transfer time surprise your guests. We consider the arrival experience before recommending a resort—especially when guests are staying only a few nights.

MAKING IT OFFICIAL

Can U.S. Couples Legally Get Married in St. Lucia?

Yes.

St. Lucia does not impose a standard residency period for marriage. The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority currently states that a same-day marriage-license application can allow a license to be obtained within 24 hours of arrival; couples using the regular license process should be on the island two days before the wedding.

Required documentation can include valid passports, birth certificates and, when applicable, divorce decrees, death certificates or other supporting documents. Documents not in English require authenticated translations.

The Government of Saint Lucia confirms that marriage-license applications are processed through the Attorney General's Chambers and prepared by a local attorney-at-law.

BTS PLANNING NOTE

Marriage requirements, government procedures and fees can change. Behind The Scenes can help you understand the planning process, but couples should confirm current legal requirements with the appropriate St. Lucia authorities and their wedding provider.

LET'S TALK BUDGET

What Does a St. Lucia Destination Wedding Cost?

There isn't one meaningful average price for a St. Lucia destination wedding.

Your overall investment depends on the resort, guest count, wedding package, venue, accommodations, décor, and how much of the wedding weekend you choose to host.

An intimate wedding and a large group require very different plans

WHAT WE LOOK AT INSTEAD

Rather than asking:

“What's the cheapest wedding package?”

we help couples ask:

“What will the entire wedding experience realistically cost?”

DON'T FORGET THE ROOMS

Your St. Lucia Wedding Is Also a Group Trip.

The right room block should work for more than the wedding couple.

We consider room categories, guest budgets, deposits, deadlines, inventory, resort requirements and the needs of the people traveling with you.

And because St. Lucia offers everything from intimate luxury properties to larger all-inclusive resorts, the right room-block strategy can look very different from one wedding to another.

Behind The Scenes helps connect the accommodations and wedding so you're planning one complete experience rather than two separate pieces.
